Not only is walking the best exercise, but it's invigorating, it's effective and you can burn calories and build muscles to burn more calories.
As you may have seen in the video above, walking is the best exercise for a number of reasons, but primarily for people like me who are overweight, we like privacy. We also don't like to be harassed by others. We would like to wear what we want without people judging us. We don't want injuries to occur because we did an exercise, like running. And, we want something that is fun to do.
Walking is fun! Better than that, we can walk when it's raining; when it's hot outside; when there's a crowd of people all around and when it's past midnight if we want. We can even walk naked if we want. Why? Because we're walking in the comfort and security of our own home, that's why!
One of the most intimidating times in any overweight person's life is when they go outside and hear somebody make a comment about our size or dogs run up and bark at us or we stumble on broken sidewalks. Whatever the reason, it's enough to make us want to quit.
We might watch infomercials about people who are already slim and trim who said they lost a bunch of weight using some product but we don't see anybody our size using the equipment itself. Worse yet, we purchase the product and read that its weight limit is way under our own and we wonder how did those on the infomercial use it when they were the weight they began with. Hmm. Something fishy about all that, huh?
That's why I like walking in place at home. When I go to stay in a hotel, I can walk in my room while looking at the human lobsters baking in the sun or sweating all over the hotel's exercise equipment before you get on it. No thanks! I can work up a pretty good sweat and work the muscles that will burn the fat off as well as build up more calorie-burning muscles in the process.
Let's walk together, no matter if you're in California (I'm in Georgia) or the UK or Cape Town, South Africa or the beautiful islands down under (Australia and New Zealand). Put on your walking shoes and whatever else and start walking in place.
